1. Run the Installer

Double-click VisualStudioSetup.exe and allow changes if prompted from User Account Control (UAC).

2. Select Workloads to Install

Choose workloads depending on what you’d like to develop. Common workloads are ASP.NET and web development, .NET desktop development, Azure development, and C++ desktop development.

Recommended for Beginners / .NET Developers:

• .NET desktop development
• ASP.NET and web development

3. Choose Installation Path (Optional)

Click on ‘Installation locations’ to change where Visual Studio saves installation files or where Visual Studio is installed.

4. Start Installation

Click the Install button to start downloading and installing the selected components.

5. Launch Visual Studio

Once the installation has finished, you can start Visual Studio 2022 either through the Start Menu or from the Installer.

6. Sign In (Optional)

You can sign-in using your Microsoft Account or choose to skip signing in to continue without signing into your Microsoft Account.

7. Choose Theme

You will now be prompted to select a color theme to use: Blue, Dark, or Light. You can change this at any point through Tools → Options.

8. Verify Installation

You can now check to see that your installation worked by choosing Visual Studio → Help → About Microsoft Visual Studio and verifying the installed version.

9. Optional Components to Install Later

You may install other workloads at a later point by selecting Visual Studio Installer → Modify.
